I am excited to announce the casting call for our upcoming short film, Mother’s Tongue. This poignant drama delves into the struggles of creativity and self-discovery against the backdrop of familial obligations.

Short film title - Mother’s Tongue

Logline: Embrace the canvas, rewrite your story.

Synopsis: A stifled young female artist, Lucy, trapped caring for her elderly criticising Mother, must discover a new way of expressing her creativity and finding her artistic voice.

• Saturday 19/10 and Saturday 2/11 

• Location: Mandurah/Perth

Character Breakdown:

Lucy - a woman in her late 20’s-30’s years old, not confident, shy, distressed, and stressed in one package. Lucy has always loved art, she dreams to be a painter and adores classical painting but can’t seem to break into the industry.  Amidst the suffocation of her caregiving, Lucy yearns to unleash her creativity.

Mother - a bitter and twisted elderly woman, 60+ years old, who mistrusts everyone and everything.  She squashes her daughter’s confidence and expects her daughter to be her slave.  A proud woman who manipulates conversations and situations so her daughter will not embarrass her.
