Shanghai Fortress is a 2019 Chinese science fiction and romance film directed by Teng Huatao and stars Lu Han and Shu Qi. Based on Jiang Nan’s eponymous sci-fi novel (also translated as Once Upon a Time in Shanghai), the film depicts the human race’s last stand in Shanghai fighting against aliens who try to seize a hidden energy source on earth in 2042.

The Space Between Us is a 2017 American romantic science fiction film directed by Peter Chelsom and written by Allan Loeb, from a story by Stewart Schill, Richard Barton Lewis, and Loeb. The film stars Gary Oldman, Asa Butterfield, Britt Robertson, and Carla Gugino, and follows a teenage boy, born on Mars, who travels to Earth.

Event Horizon is a 1997 science fiction horror film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and written by Philip Eisner. It stars Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan and Joely Richardson. Set in 2047, it follows a crew of astronauts sent on a rescue mission after a missing spaceship, the Event Horizon, spontaneously appears in orbit around Neptune.
